For Cat Parents

What to Expect at Your Cat’s Appointment

Scheduling: Planning Ahead
Personalized care begins by understanding your cat’s needs long before we meet face-to-face.
We begin each new client relationship with a complimentary telehealth call to answer your questions, review expectations, and discuss plans and pricing. This preparation ensures a smooth visit, allowing us to focus entirely on your cat’s experience.
- Telehealth call with Dr. Erin – We schedule a complimentary pre-visit phone call to discuss medical history, expectations, and preparation for a smooth and comfortable visit.
- Pre-visit medications – We often recommend a dose of gabapentin before the visit to ease your cat’s stress and anxiety.
Arrival: Making your cat comfortable
Cats are sensitive to their surroundings and prefer predictable, familiar spaces. We cater to this need with a smooth, stress-free arrival process. No waiting room. No communal cat spaces. This is our promise to you and your cat.
- Make yourself at home – You’ll be brought directly to a private exam room where you will stay with your cat for the entire visit. Once there, your cat can explore the space or stay in their carrier. We encourage you to get comfortable, too—whether that’s in a chair or on the floor—as we dive deep into your cat’s health and well-being.
- Designed with cats in mind – Soft surfaces, sunlight and fresh air, quiet surroundings, and calming pheromones help cats feel safe and comforted in our care.

The appointment: Tailored to your cat’s unique needs
Your cat’s comfort and trust are key to effective care. That’s why we let them guide the pace and extent of every visit. Our unhurried approach lets your cat be themselves and proceed according to their emotional comfort – instead of someone else’s schedule.
- Extended appointments – Always allow plenty of time for your cat’s scheduled appointment in case extra time is needed.
- Personalized approach – Medicine is more than hands-on exams. Every aspect of your cat, from what you tell us to how they move, informs how we care for them.
Your cat’s care: Gentle, thorough, and thoughtful medicine
We understand that cats can be unpredictable, so we take a flexible, thoughtful approach to meet their physical and emotional needs. Our low-stress care includes sitting on the floor to let your cat approach us on their terms and staying attuned to their behavior throughout the visit. To minimize disruptions, we perform the complete exam and basic testing in the room so you can observe the process and reassure your cat.
- Gentle handling in a predictable environment – From speaking in calm tones to using a soft touch, we patiently build – and maintain – trust with your cat.
- Feline-specific equipment and care – Our technology and techniques are intentionally selected to provide exceptional, specialized care for cats.

Follow-up: Ongoing support and communication
Our care doesn’t end when your visit does. We stay in close communication with you and your cat’s primary veterinarian to ensure a smooth and successful recovery. We are always here to answer every question, alleviate any concerns, and receive every cute story or picture you want to share.
- Convenient communication – We’ll follow up via your preferred method (phone, text, or email) and encourage you to reach out anytime.
- Comprehensive support – We’ll share your cat’s dental records, treatment plans, and post-operative reports with your regular veterinarian to ensure they are informed and updated on every aspect of your cat’s care.
Collaborative care: Partnering with you
No one knows your cat quite like you do, which makes you a valuable part of their care team.
- Transparency – Education and understanding give your cat the best chance at a long and healthy life. That’s why we’ll walk you through every aspect of their care so you can make informed decisions and feel confident about choosing us.
- Empathy – We’re cat lovers and cat caregivers, first and foremost, so we understand your special bond and we’ll love them as our own.
